Paulo Junqueiro (born July 13, 1960) is the current president of Sony Music in Brazil, boasting a 38-year career as a music professional and executive. He began as a sound technician in the early ‘80s in Portugal, his birthplace. In 1985, he moved to Brazil for a job at Estúdio Transamérica. His recording experience, especially in rock, made him one of the most sought-after producers during the mid-80s rock boom in Brazil.
He collaborated with Liminha in Rio de Janeiro at Estúdio Nas Nuvens, where all the major artists of the time recorded, and remained there until 1992, when he opened the country's first remastering studio. Two years later, he joined Warner as an artistic director, increasing the multinational's roster of national artists from 20% to 70%.
He was invited to take on a role in Portugal with EMI, where he stayed until 2007, before returning to Brazil with the same company, remaining until its closure in 2012, following its acquisition by Universal. That same year, he assumed the presidency of Sony Portugal, and his extremely positive results led him back to Brazil, where he has been president of the company since April 2015.
